Terroir Terroir al Límit
Torroja lies in the heart of the Priorat appellation zone and has mainly old Carignan vines. Terroir al Limit owns impressive blocks of vines on steep, un-terraced slate slopes. Dominik believes in single vineyard cuvées that allow each particular micro-terroir to express itself. Here are the 'First Growths' cuvées he makes: -Dits de la Tierra (60 year-old Carignans on pure slate, facing south); -Arbossar (1,6 hectare of Carignan planted in 1910 at an altitude of 400 m, still on pure slate, but facing north). And here are his two 'Grands Crus': -Les Manyes : a vine of Grenache Pelut (or Lladoner) planted on limestone soils, quite rare in the Priorat, above the Scala Dei cloister, facing west -Les Tosses: 80 year-old Carignans planted at an altitude of 600 m d'altitude (the highest vines of Torroja), one black schists, facing south-west.
