This "Friends' wine" is the flagship of this family bodega, located in Corral de Almaguer. It coiuld be sold under the La Mancha denomination, but owner Juan de la Barreda prefers to use the Tierra de Castilla label. The wine is a blend of old Tempranillo grapes (here they call it Cencibel), from three different terroirs: La Desehilla, Monte Alto and El Convento, with some shiraz and cabernet from younger vines.
Callet (65%), Mantonegro (20%), Syrah (15%), Fogoneu

ÀN/2 is the second wine of this estate. Like the fist one, AN, it is mainly made with indigenous Majorcan grapes. But here, 15% of Syrah bring some more structure into the wine.

Since 2016, Victoria Ordóñez has also been making red wine under the Sierras de Málaga DO. If she is still the "queen" of PX and Moscatel in Málaga, these reds surely deserve to appear on your table. The grapes come from high altitude vineyards surrounding the city of Málaga.
Syrah (100%)
2020
Ull de Llebre (63%), Garnatxa (26%), Cabernet Sauvignon (6%), Syrah (5%)
This wine is a blend of bush vine Grenache, planted in the 60's and 70's, and other varieties planted in the 80's, in double Guyot. As the vineyard is facing South-West, the grapes get a maximum of sunshine and an optimal ripeness every year. Maceration and alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 28°C during 25 days. Then the wine is put into Allier oak barrels, partly new, partly 2nd year. A small quantity of the Grenache goes into American oak.
Cabernet Sauvignon (35%), Garnatxa (35%), Cariñena (10%), Merlot (10%), Syrah (10%)
2014
One of Priorat's great classic wines. Year after year, it expresses perfectly its terroir and its vintage. Two words to sum it all up: minerality and greatness.
Cariñena, Cinsault, Garnacha, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Tinta Barocca
In South Africa like in Spain, Terroir is a relatively new concept. The oenologist of the Spanish estates we work with played a pioneering role in understanding its value. The same for Eben Sadie and its family in South Africa. Columella is the flagship of this small company. Its production is very limited, but the quality is very high.
Garnatxa (85%), Syrah (15%)
Coma d'en Pou is a collective name referring to some vineyard at the East of Gandesa, at the foot of the Sierra de Cavalls. Coma means dale. Coma d'en Pou has a total area of 10 hectares, covered with vines and olive trees. The first vintage was made in 1996. The percetange of Cabernet sauvignon, very popular in the region in the 90's, is now decreasing in favour of the Grenache.
Garnatxa (60%), Cariñena (30%), Syrah (10%)
2018
Coma Vella is the first level of this estate's high end range. Are you looking for a super Priorat wine at a very good price-quality relation ? Here it is! Seductive, typically Mediterranean, fruit but lively. This cuvée comes mainly from old vines of Grenache and Carignan. Coma Vella means old valley.
Garnatxa (80%), Cabernet Sauvignon (10%), Syrah (10%)

Made with old Grenache vines, here is one of Spain's best fortified wines.

Embruix mainly comes from young vines, planted in the 90's, with a complement of some old Grenache and Carignan. But this wine was meant to please. And it does.

Embruix mainly comes from young vines, planted in the 90's, with a complement of some old Grenache and Carignan. But this wine was meant to please. And it does. It is both supple and sensual, and what's more, its has a very good price quality relation. Embruix means bewitched. which is what you will be when you drink it!

Cabernet Sauvignon (78%), Syrah (22%)
Petit Verdot (60%), Syrah (20%), Tempranillo (20%)
The latest great wine from Victoria Ordóñez and her son Guillermo, who, since 2016 have never ceased surprising us with the quality of their Malagas - at least, in still wine. This new addition in their red wine range (the other being the Camaroles cuvée) is an exceptional wine - only 2,655 bottles.
Bobal (72%), Garnacha (17%), Syrah (11%)
Mestizaje means assemblage or blending. An outstanding wine, all the more so as it is the entry level wine of the estate!
Cariñena (45%), Garnatxa (40%), Cabernet Sauvignon (5%), Merlot (5%), Syrah (5%)
The name Nunci comes from the fact that Dirk bought his vineyards from the village's cryer - the Nunci.
Syrah (36%), Garnatxa (22%), Cabernet Franc (20%), Merlot (14%), Cabernet Sauvignon (7%)
As it is the case for most new style Priorat wines, Dirk uses a base of Grenache-Carignan (minimum 50%), blended with other grapes, mainly from younger vines. Even though it has a Mediterranean touch to it, this wine is very fresh, maybe thanks to the Cabernet Franc, which is quite rare in this zone. The time of ageing in wood is reduced, so as to limit the oaky notes - and it is a success. An outstanding price-quality relation. The name Nunci comme from the fact that Dirk bought his vineyards from the village's cryer - the Nunci.
Syrah (38%), Cabernet Franc (22%), Garnatxa (21%), Cariñena (12%), Merlot (7%)

Nuncito (the little Nunci) is somewhat the second wine of the estate, as it uses the grapes of the youngest vines. Hence the diminutive. Its first vintage was 2005.

These three wines are made with the grapes of 15 different vineyards planted with old vines. Skin contact maceration at low temperature (10°C). On the label is the Fina Mas Vilella, located in the uplands and surrounded by vines.
