The 2022 Vermell was produced with 50% Mandó, 30% Arcos and 20% Garnacha Tintorera, a very different blend from the 2020 I had tasted last time, with a lot less Garnacha Tintorera, turning more into a small brother of the Safrà and Parotet. It's a light red with 13.5% alcohol, a medium body and good freshness with brightness and pretty notes, perfumed and fresh. It's elegant, with finesse, and has much more elegant tannins. It's more serious, less rustic.

Wine estate

Celler del Roure is nothing short of the pioneer of quality wine in the DO Valencia.
Until recently, Valencia was only known for its cheap bulk wines, but it is now blossoming into one of Spain most interesting wine regions.
Thanks to the estate, which rehabilitated long-forgotten local grapes like the red Mando and the white Verdil, and also rediscovered the use of amphoras.

Description

Bush vine Grenache planted in the 60's and 70's, the other varieties being planted in the 80's, in Guyot Double. As the vineyard faces South-West, the grapes get a maximum of sunshine and an optimal maturity. A green harvest is made to enhance the quality of these grapes. The real harvest takes place between the end of September and the beginning of November! Average production: 36,000 bottles.
