Varieties Roura
Around 30 ha of vines are dedicated to cava – mainly Pansa Blanca (alias Xarello), part which are trained in goblet, and Chardonnay. For the rosé, Trepat (an old Catalan varietal also to be found in Conca de Barbera) is used. The most recent plantations are trellissed, for a better maturity control of the grapes. As the soils a quite poor, the planting density is low (2,500 plants per hectare). Apart from the Pansa Blanca, Chardonnay is used for the Cavas. The Cava production uses roughly 30 hectares.
