Terroir Prieto Pariente
Ignacio's and Martina's wines do not have an appellation but are sold as Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y Leon, which enables them to choose from parcels within the whole of the vast region. Today, the use grapes from 4 villages: -Pedrosa del Rey: Tempranillo and Grenache on sedimentary sands, with some silt and limestone. Parcel planted in 1955, yield: 3,500 kg/ha. -Mucientes: an old parcel of Tempranillo (1941) and some Cabernet Sauvignon from the Valley of Salgüeros (1950). Sand and limestone. Yield: 3,000 kg/ha. -Valbuena de Duero : old vines of Tempranillo (1945), on clay and sand, with some limestone. Yield: 3,000 kg/ha. -La Seca: rugged terroir, lots of limestone, rich in magnesium. Very stony, this parcel has a perfect drainage. Viognier planted in 1999. Yield: 4,500 kg/ha.
