History Xavier Ausàs
A Catalan born in Figueras in 1968, Xavier spent most of his career in Ribera del Duero, where he was hired as enologist by the famous Vega Sicilia, in 1988. First under the wing of Marciano Garcia, then from 1998, as technical director, supervising all the wine projects of the group. In 2015, Xavier and Vega Sicila decide to go their separate ways, and Xavier starts up his own project. Thanks to his experience, he knew where to find best quality tempranillo. To make a great wine, everything starts in the vineyard - and especially with choosing old vines of good terroirs with the best exposition, often at the higher altitudes. And Xavier had the right contact to source these quality grapes. Xavier's bodega is located in Quintanillo de Onésimo and its production is around 24,000 bottles per year only.
