Terroir Cote
The 5 terroirs Cote has selected represent for him the essence of Castille-Leon. They are: 1. Baños de Valdearados in Ribera del Duero (Burgos), 8.3 ha, mainly ungrafted Aragonés planted in 1908 and 1948. At 970m above sea-level, on clay and silt and lime. 2. Caserio de San José in Valtiendas (Segovia), 3 ha, mainly ungrafted Tempranillo planted in 1956 at 880 m above sea level, on stony and alluvial soils. 3. San Roman de Hornija in Toro (Zamora), 6,4 ha, ungrafted Tempranillo, Petit Verdot and Grenache, planted between 1930 and 1940, at 720m don sandy soils covered with pebbles. 4. Trigueros del Vale in Cigales (Valladolid), 2.5 ha, Tempranillo on American rootstock (110R) planted between 1935 and 1950 at 780 metres above sea-level, on sandy and alluvial soils of clay. 5. Gumiel del Mercado in Ribera del Duero (Burgos), 2 ha, Tempranillo planted in 1998 on 41B rootstock, at 920 metres, on silt and clay with pebbles.
