La Mancha, with its 200,000 hectares of vines, is the world’s largest wine region. Until now, very few wineries produced quality wines there, but things are changing.
Since 2000, there has been a tremendous development in terms of quality, both inside and outside the D.O.
The small projects in Montes de Toledo bear witness to this evolution.
This region is retard diverse, its soils mainly poor and sandy, often iron-rich; the landscape is somewhat hilly.
The new generation is developing this wine region, mainly around the Tempranillo grape, aka Cencibel.
With its high temperatures, this area is more suited to red wines.
