The powerful and characterful white 2019 Coma Blanca seems to age without any effort at a very slow pace. These Mediterranean whites take time to develop in bottle, where they gain complexity and somehow seem to get more elegant and ethereal. It was produced with Macabeo and Garnacha Blanca from four old plots on slate, alluvial and limestone soils, which seem to give it complexity and an extra dimension. It has notes of Mediterranean forest, pine needles, aromatic herbs, quince, yellow plums and pollen with elegance and complexity. It has a medium-bodied palate with a fine texture and supple flavors and an almost salty finish. You don't feel the 15% alcohol mentioned on the label. It fermented and matured for nine months in 500-liter oak barrels, 30% of them new. 2,718 bottles were filled in May 2020.
