R. Parker (92/100)
A super selection from their sweet Moscatel de Alejandría (all the vines in Aixarquía are old), the 2008 Ariyanas Terruño Pizarroso is produced with the grapes from their oldest vineyards on slate soils. It is fermented after 5-6 days in the sun and aged in oak barrels for eight months. Both selection and process make the wine much more complex and deep, with a bright golden color and a combination of vanilla, smoke, custard, honey, candied orange peel and dried rose petals. The palate is thick and dense with good balance between acidity, sweetness and alcohol, not extremely powerful, more on the elegant side, with a long finish. Great sweet Moscatel, perhaps better when the oak gets better integrated. 4,500 375ml. bottles.
